Fresh off the back of their Foxbase Alpha 18th Anniversary shows, Wireless Festival 2009 sponsored by Barclaycard are proud to present indie dance pioneers Saint Etienne.
Saint Etienne were one of the bands that helped define the indie dance genre of the early 1990's, bringing together the production values of the dance-pop with their clever lyrics. Led by songwriters Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs, and fronted by vocalist Sarah Cracknell, the group managed to carry out their concept, and, in the process, helped make indie dance a viable genre within the U.K.
Throughout this period, Saint Etienne's sound encompassed everything from house and techno to hip-hop and disco and layered with light melodies and Cracknell's breathy vocals.
