London synthpop trio Filthy Dukes use a range electronic percussion, synths, guitars and vocals to create twisted disco funk music. Their debut album Nonsense in the Dark is the amalgamation of all their musical influences, and was recently released to critical acclaim from the music industry.
The group started out promoting various club nights and DJ sets before going on to play supporting DJ sets for Mylo, Hot Chip and LCD Soundsystem, as well as releasing remixes of bands such as Late of the Pier, The Rakes and The Maccabees. Their current DJ night Kill Em all takes place at Fabric in London, where they often perform with the likes of Zombie Nation, Bok Bok and fellow Wireless 2009 line-up band Digitalism.
Filthy Dukes collaborated with Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding on a track for the film Wild Child in 2008 which sparked a plethora of rumours that Harding would be leaving Girls Aloud to pursue a solo career (the rumours turned out to be false though). Their live show is described by the band as being “pretty damn good”, and features live performances of all the tracks from their album.
