Master Shortie started rapping when he was about 12 and ever since has been in charge of all of his own promotion, record releases, styling and marketing, with no major record label backing him. As a result he’s become the poster boy of a DIY underground scene that represents everything that’s exciting and unique about UK music today, and all the while making the kind of vibrant, nail-you-to-the-groove 80s tinged electro-hop that puts him alongside Black Kids, Cool Kids and any other kind of kids that are redefining what 21st Century, post-industry music can be.
He is now working on his album which he has been meaning to release in the early half of 2009. His songs portray his views on life and how he loves to dance and the music is rippling through young indie, hip-hop and even dance lovers. Master Shortie’s work is slowly being admired, and he has appeared on T4 and other shows to promote himself. With his DIY image and his album set to come out in 2009 he could, and should be on his way to changing the music youths listen to today.
