Headlining on Sunday at this year’s Wireless is none other than hip-hop genius Kanye West. One of the most iconic performers of the genre, Kanye is truly the voice of a generation, and we can’t believe how lucky we are that he’ll be playing at this year’s festival – it’s going to be a big one.
In recent months Kanye has bagged himself a Brit award for Best International Male, released his forth album 808’s & Heartbreak, and sold out shows at the O2 in London. His appearance at Wireless 2009 will be another huge highlight in the rapper’s calendar, so much so that he’s chosen the festival to be his only UK performance this year.
A catalogue of hits including Gold Digger, Through The Wire, Stronger, Diamonds From Sierra Leone and Heartless will make this show undoubtedly one of the finest performances seen in Hyde Park. After 2008’s spectacular performance by Jay Z at Wireless, we reckon that Kanye West’s appearance this year will firmly establish Hip-Hop’s place in Hyde Park.
