Finding love in London is no easy task, but Wireless has teamed up with one of the UK’s premier dating event organisers, When the Music Stops, to include a FlirtZone at this year’s festival, which will provide speed dating sampler sessions for the singletons.
There will be rolling speed dating events, quick sessions lasting just 20 minutes each, in a special area, dedicated to the joys of speed dating. Each session will welcome 15 men and 15 women to sit down one on one for two minutes each. When the time is up and the music stops, participants are welcome to keep the chatting and the flirting going!
It’s fun and it’s fast - speed dating is the perfect way to meet loads of other singles in a fun and safe setting.
If flirting seems like thirsty work, there are plenty of pukka refreshments and chill out areas throughout the park, and even the perfect place to share a pina colada! Yes, Wireless 2009 is giving Londoners the chance to bid farewell to weekend treks to Brighton by bringing the beach right to the heart of London.
A sumptuous stretch of sand, bustling with fun beach props including a donkey, beach huts, a peep through board, dozens of deck chairs and a gigantic bucket and spade! Beachwear is optional, but it may just help for those who want to be spotted' as the Face of the Festival.'

Wireless is keen to keep the fun as environmentally friendly as possible and have conducted an environmental impact assessment to identify the origin and extent of its environmental impacts and have identified actions to respond to high impact areas.
Following on from last year, the audience can buy environmental offsets and the funds from these will go to building a garden and wildlife area at Edward Wilson Primary School, Royal Oak. An environmental assessment of supply chains has been conducted and its been ensured that key suppliers have had environmental programs in place.
Promoters Live Nation will be actively monitoring and reporting the CO2 emissions from Wireless along with recycling levels achieved. All waste cooking oil from site will be collected and converted into sustainable bio diesel. Recycling systems will be in place to segregate all cardboard, plastic, paper and cans from back of house and the waste from the audience will be sent through a sorting process to extract all recyclable elements. All vendors will be using biodegradable packaging and wooden utensils across the site to avoid plastic packaging including polystyrene
Various local and national charities will be onsite providing small-scale entertainment and interaction that will promote audience action on environmental and social issues. These include; Global Cool, Cancer Research, Terrance Higgins Trust, Thames21, Groundwork, Living Streets, Earth Restoration Service and Plan.
